Start in Cachora, walk on flat ground for a few hours, then drop over 1000 meters into a canyon, then up 500 meters on the other side to Santa Rosa.

Walk up 500 meters to Choquequirao and visit the site in the afternoon.

Visit Choquequirao in the morning, walk down 1200 meters past more ruins into another canyon, then a grueling 800 meter climb to our campsite at Mysal.

Up another 1200 meters to yet another pass at 4100 meters, then drop down into the next valley to the small farming community of Yanama.

A steady uphill walk through the valley to a freezing pass, then downhill until meeting with the Salkantay trek.

An easy walk for a few hours to La Playa, then a bus to Santa Teresa, another bus to the hydroelectric plant, and a 2-hour walk along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes.

Up at 3:30 AM, walk to Machu Picchu by sunrise, then visit the site all day. What an amazing trek!
